REPORTING OF LOW LYING POWER LINES

Members of the public are kindly requested to inform FEA immediately if they see or come across any low lying power lines in their areas. FEA is concerned that low lying power lines pose serious injury or even an electrocution risk if people come in contact directly or indirectly with these power lines. FEA has around 7,000 km of overhead power lines throughout the country. These power lines can become low due to strong winds and heavy rainfall which cause power poles to lean. Due to the size of its power network it takes time to conduct regular inspection of the entire overhead transmission network and as a result these lines are inspected once a year. Therefore, FEA seeks your assistance in reporting any low lying power lines in your area to the Authority immediately. FEA has also received reports of trucks pulling down overhead power lines when these trucks transporting “high loads” illegally.Any fallen power line should always be assumed as alive and members of the public are instructed to stay away from these fallen power lines and report the matter to FEA immediately.
To report low lying power lines or fallen power lines please call FEA on emergency telephone number 913
